The most important questions and answers about the new Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear
MORE THAN COMPRESSION
With our new Compression Wear, we at Bauerfeind Sports are breaking new ground. For the first time in our history, we're offering compression shirts and pants as a complete sports wear set. To explain exactly what compression wear is and what makes our Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear so special, we simply asked the people who know best: our Sports Wear experts. In the following article, they'll answer all your questions, from A to Z.
GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT COMPRESSION WEAR
1. What exactly is compression clothing?
Basically, the term compression wear refers to special clothing such as a compression shirt or compression pants that fit snugly against the body and exert pressure on certain areas of the body.
2. Is there a difference between medical compression and sports compression?
Yes! While both types of compression have positive effects on blood circulation and muscle support, they differ in their specific applications, the type of pressure, and the design. Compression sportswear is tailored to different needs and situations. It is used to enhance performance rather than to treat health problems. The material and fit also differ, sometimes significantly.
3. What are the benefits of compression wear?
In a sports context, compression clothing can be used for various benefits. These include improved performance, better and faster recovery, and it can also be helpful in potentially preventing injuries.
4. How long can I wear this special compression sports wear?
Since every product is different, it's difficult to make a general statement. As a rule of thumb: Because sports compression clothing is specifically designed for physical activity, you can definitely wear it during and after training.
5. Are there any people who should not wear compression clothing?
Yes! Compression garments should not be worn in certain medical conditions such as arterial disease, heart problems, allergies, and skin conditions. If you are unsure, you should consult a doctor.
6. For which sports can I wear compression wear?
Generally, you can wear sports compression wear for all sports. This includes, for example, running, cycling, winter sports, and ball sports. But you can also use it for other action-packed forms of exercise like Zumba and even yoga. Compression wear is also frequently used in strength sports such as CrossFit, weightlifting, and calisthenics.
7. Does compression clothing restrict my movement?
This varies from person to person. Many find compression wear provides a pleasant and empowering feeling. However, wearing compression clothing, whether a compression shirt or pants, can feel a bit unusual at first. Even before putting it on, you'll notice how "small" the compression garment looks. The sensation might also feel strange while putting it on. However, compression wear is designed to serve a specific function. Therefore, this "tightness" created by the pressure is necessary. Soon, though, you'll feel the power that makes sports compression wear so popular.
Questions about Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear
1. What distinguishes Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear from others?
In our more than 90-year history, we have accumulated comprehensive and in-depth knowledge in the field of compression. In short, we know what we're doing and why we're doing it. That's why we can proudly say: We don't simply call our Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear compression clothing; we offer targeted and deliberately chosen compression. This applies to both our compression shirts and our compression pants.
2. Why does the clothing cost so much?
Our Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear is manufactured using a special circular knitting process with certified compression pressure. Production takes place exclusively in Europe, and we also source our raw materials exclusively from Europe. This ensures short supply chains and supports local retailers and businesses. Furthermore, we utilize very high-quality manufacturing processes and materials. Essentially, our principle is: a high-quality product has its price, and we wouldn't produce anything less.
3. Why do the things look so small?
The compression in our sports compression wear must be targeted. For this, we use highly elastic materials that contract when not worn, in order to provide compression when put on. Functionality is our top priority.
4. Is this for underneath or over?
Our compression wear isn't a typical baselayer. It's a standalone, functional garment. You'll get maximum performance when you wear our sportswear directly against your skin. But of course, you can also wear it differently depending on the situation. Loose shorts over the compression pants or a relaxed shirt over our compression shirt works perfectly fine. If it feels good for you, there's absolutely nothing wrong with wearing our compression wear as a mid-layer.
5. Does Bauerfeind Compression Wear also keep you warm?
Our Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear is a training tool designed for use during physical activities. A warming function would be inappropriate here, as it could lead to excessive sweating. We use the functional materials polyamide and elastane in our compression shirts and compression pants. These materials regulate temperature and wick moisture away from the body.
6. Can I combine Bauerfeind Sports products with BF compression wear?
It depends: If both products are worn directly against the skin, yes, but not if they're layered on top of each other. In other words, compression on compression doesn't work. For example, you can easily combine our Run Ultralight Compression Socks with the Sports Compression Shorts. However, you should avoid combining them with the Sports Compression Leggings. The same applies to our compression shirt.
7. How do I wash this and can I use fabric softener?
Our products always have a care label to answer this question. In short, the rule of thumb for our compression pants and compression shirts is: 40 degrees + gentle cycle without fabric softener + do not tumble dry and do not iron = ideal care.
8. When should I use the short version and when the long version?
If you want the full compression effect, meaning you also want to specifically and effectively stimulate your calves and forearms, you should choose the long versions of our compression wear. If the air temperature is particularly high or you prefer a freer feel, you can use the short versions.
9. Is there anything I need to know when putting on the garments?
Yes. That's why we've created detailed instructions to help you put on your compression wear correctly. We think of our compression products differently from everyday clothing. You simply get dressed in regular clothes, but our sports compression wear is a high-performance training tool that should be fitted carefully rather than simply pulled on. Think of it more like putting on a piece of performance equipment or armor.
10. What is the difference between these and regular running tights or a performance shirt?
Bauerfeind Sports Compression Wear goes beyond traditional athletic apparel. Unlike standard running tights and performance shirts, our garments feature precisely engineered, graduated compression that helps promote circulation and support muscle efficiency. Compression is strongest at the extremities and gradually decreases toward the core for optimal support. Our Compression Shirts also incorporate breathable Climate Zones for lasting comfort, while innovative 3D Power Dots® and Targeted Compression help improve body awareness, coordination, and muscle performance.
